FolderGrid supports concurrent access to individual files and by default makes no attempt to prevent two or more users from modifying the same file at the same time. FolderGrid simply stores every revision to a file and marks the most recently uploaded revision as the latest.

In environments where there exists a high-probability of users overwriting one another's changes to a single document, Domain Administrators may wish to change that default FolderGrid behavior and enable File Locks.

With File Locking enabled, a user may prevent modification to a document while she is actively revising it. Any user with permission to write to a file may lock it and only the user who created the lock or a Domain Administrator may remove the lock.

To enable File Locking for your domain, a Domain Administrator may simply check the applicable box under "Admin Tools" - "Domain Settings"

Once File Locking is enabled, the File menu will offer a "Lock/Unlock" toggle (Note: you will need to sign out and sign back in before the WebApp will recognize that File Locking has been enabled or disabled for the domain)

You can also display the lock status of files in a folder by enabling the Locked By column in the file listing.
