Due to limitations with mapped drive content under Microsoft Windows, WinMount mapped drives only read file permissions once. If you attempt to open a file using WinMount and are denied access due to permissions - you will be unable to open that same file for the remainder of your authenticated WinMount session even if you are subsequently granted appropriate permissions on the file.
By disconnecting the WinMount mounted drive and reconnecting - you can force a refresh of the file permissions to easily work around this issue of relatively limited scope.
